Nearly 10 years of work culminated when Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale made its premiere in suburban Atlanta to a sold-out audience at Aurora Theatre on March 15, 2012. Aurora Theatre has extended the show for one additional week through April, 15 2012, and then the hit musical must close.

Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale, created by Broadway stars Hunter Foster and Rick Crom, is directed by legendary Broadway veteran and Emmy™ Award-winning director Lonny Price. With choreography by Josh Rhodes and musical direction by local award-winner Ann-Carol Pence, the show stars the delightful J.C. Long and Laura Floyd in the title roles. The production is buoyed by a stellar supporting cast with standout performances form Bart Hansard as J. Edgar Hoover and as the evening's brash master of ceremonies, the amazing Karen Howell. The musical is set in a quaint southern town, where each year the townsfolk pay homage to their favorite anti-heroes with a theatrical performance. In it, America's most romantic gangsters outwit and outrun a relentless J. Edgar Hoover to the delight of the poor and downtrodden, as their relationship changes from "strictly business" to passionate romance. Funny, tuneful and historically dubious, Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale is a good ol' musical about the bad ol' days.

In the Clyde 'n Bonnie spirit, Aurora Theatre feels "kinda sorry fer" those institutions that were the targets of these real-life romantic robbers and the butt of many of the jokes in this clever musical… the banks. With that in mind, during the extension week, Aurora Theatre is offering a $5 off discount to all bank and credit union employees with their ticket purchase.

For people who want to see more new musical development in this region, support through ticket sales, donations and sponsorships are vitally important. In recent years, Atlanta has become a significant regional proving ground for future Broadway musicals, and Aurora Theatre has a commitment to working with these creators and fostering their work. "When we have a hit show like Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale it has a valuable positive impact for our community," explains Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez. "This show casts Atlanta and Gwinnett in a very positive light nationally while the visitors stimulate the local economy and tourism." With the much-anticipated production of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a musical by Stephen King with music and lyrics by John Mellencamp at the Tony Award-winning ALLIANCE THEATRE in April, Atlanta should be considered the epicenter of the new Broadway musicals.

Now in their 16th Season and with over 300 events annually, Aurora Theatre has live entertainment to suit everyone's taste. The Aurora Theatre main stage season is comprised of Broadway's best plays and musicals alongside exciting new works of Contemporary Theatre. Additionally, Aurora produces concerts, Comedy Club events, children's programs, metro Atlanta's top haunted attraction, Lawrenceville Ghost Tours as well as Atlanta's only professional Spanish language theatre, Teatro Del Sol. Aurora Theatre is a world-class theatrical facility with two performances venues. It is nestled on the square in historic downtown Lawrenceville, with free attached covered parking and is surrounded by restaurants and shops.

Aurora Theatre has garnered numerous accolades highlighted by recent achievements that include the 2009 Pinnacle Award from the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Creative Loafing's 2010 Best Theatre Company and Georgia Trend Magazine's 2011 Best Places to Work in Georgia.

Programming in Aurora Theatre's 2011-2012 Main Stage Season is possible through generous support from Metro Waterproofing and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund. Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale is sponsored by Allgood Pest Solutions.
