Personal shopping concierge Hukkster (http://hukkster.com) has unveiled a brand new aesthetic and is officially open to the public, just in time for holiday shopping. Launched by two former fashion merchandisers, Hukkster is a free online shopping tool that helps you track products on sites you love, get notified when those products go on sale and gives you the ability to buy when the price and time are right.
Once welcomed to Hukkster, the user simply clicks and drags to install a “hukk it” bookmarklet into his or her browser’s bookmarks bar. Then, as they’re browsing their favorite retail sites, coming across products they love but are perhaps just beyond a comfortable price point, they can click the “hukk it” button and choose to get notified via email when the product either goes on sale, drops by 25 percent or drops by 50 percent. The product is then added to the user’s “My Hukks” page, where they can track and purchase.
“Anybody that shops online knows the feeling of sifting through a bunch of emails from brands or stores each day only to find that not one product or style is what they actually want or need,” said Hukkster co-founder Katie Finnegan. “Imagine getting an email notification for a product that you’ve already expressed interest in and it’s selling for below retail price. That’s what Hukkster’s all about.”
In private, invite-only beta since May 2012, Hukkster works with hundreds of retail sites including bloomingdales.com, gap.com, jcrew.com, macys.com and shopbop.com. It has helped users save, on average, 33 percent on products “hukk’d” across the web. And the average hukk’d purchase price ranges between $150 and $250.
Over the next few weeks, Hukkster will add list and sharing functionalities. Ideal for the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, members will be able to curate their Hukkster holiday wishlists for their friends and family so not a single deal is missed.
“While we’re currently focused on the apparel and accessories markets, we see Hukkster changing the way people shop online across all verticals,” said Hukkster co-founder Erica Bell. “Many of our members are using Hukkster for event based purchasing. We have brides hukking for the wedding, soon-to-be moms hukking baby gear and new homeowners hukking decor and home goods.”
