Hugh Laurie, of the hit Fox television-series "House," was on the Queen Elizabeth II's New Year's Honours List this year. Also on the list was actor John Wood.
Laurie stars as Dr. House on the hit television series"House."Laurie is an Emmy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner for Best Actor in a Drama Series. Before his role in "House,"Laurie worked in theater for many years in London.
Wood is another veteran in theater. He has has been nominated for several Tony Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance in Travesties. Wood was in several other Broadway plays, including Tartuffe, Deathtrap, and Amadeus.
Musician Rod Stewart, director Peter Greenaway, and Queen's granddaughter and equestrian gold medalist Zara Phillips were also among the honorees.
