Reported first this morning by columnist Liz Smith, and then elsewhere around the net, Tony-winning Boy From Oz star Hugh Jackman will kick off a worldwide concert tour in April with an appearance at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas. The resort is set to open in late-April, and early reports indicate that Jackman's show might indeed kick off the hotel's opening weekend.
The show will feature a troupe of dancers, plus direction by
George C. Wolfe, and choreography by
Kathleen Marshall. That award-winning team will put together the tour which will make its debut at the new 1,200 seat located in the hotel.
Wynn Las Vegas, the new $2.7 billion resort from developer
Steve Wynn, opens on the Las Vegas Strip April 28th. Located across from the Fashion Show mall and adjacent to the Sands Expo, the 217-acre resort will open complete with 18 dining outlets, an 18-hole championship golf course, an 111,000 square foot casino, a spa and salon, a gallery of masterworks from the private art collection of Steve and Elaine Wynn, an impressive array of retail boutiques, and a signature show by Franco Dragone.
Hugh Jackman's stage credits include the Broadway production of
The Boy From Oz, the London production of
Oklahoma!, and the Australian production of
Sunset Boulevard. His film credits include
The X-Men, X-Men 2, Someone Like You, Swordfish, Kate and Leopold for which he received a Golden Globe Nomination, and Van Helsing. His next film roles are in the currently filming
The Fountain due for release later in 2005. X-Men 3 is in pre-production, for an anticipated 2006 release.
