Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post today that Hugh Jackman's one-man concert, Hugh Jackman in Concert, could be gearing up for a Broadway engagement as yearly as this year. The concert, which opened to raves in San Francisco this spring and even greater praise in Toronto on July 5, has been the source of Broadway buzz for months. No doubt the Broadway favorite will be welcomed back warmly.
Accompanied by an 18 piece orchestra, Jackman's show consists of a personal selection of his favorite musical numbers including selections from "The Boy from Oz" and stories from his own experiences in Hollywood.
Writes Riedel: "...in fact, there's a scramble to sort out Jackman's movie schedule -- he's doing another installment of "Wolverine" in Europe this fall -- and bring the show in later this year. It would be a limited run -- 12 to 15 weeks -- at a desirable theater, possibly the Broadhurst, which may be available after Labor Day if the struggling "Baby It's You" falls by the wayside."
