Golden Globe- and SAG Award-winner Jennifer Hudson will cap an upcoming performance at the Academy Awards with a trip to the recording studio for her debut solo album.
Hudson, who won the Globe and SAG for her acclaimed turn as Effie in the film version of Dreamgirls, is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She told Oprah Winfrey that she will sing "Love You I Do" - one of three Oscar-nominated songs written especially for the Dreamgirls film - at the February 25th ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on ABC. In March, she will record her debut solo CD with Clive Davis.
Hudson, who rose to fame as a finalist on "American Idol" and has appeared onstage in the Actors' Fund concert of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, has also picked up a multitude of critical awards for her turn as Effie. The Dreamgirls film, directed and adapted by Bill Condon from the 1981 Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen classic, is produced by Dreamworks. It also stars Beyonce Knowles, Anika Noni Rose, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx.
