Hudson Valley Singers Present Autumn 2012 Season in NYC and White Plains, 12/8 & 9

Hudson Valley Singers present their Autumn 2012 Season, featuring the music of Henry Purcell, conducted by Eugene Sirotkine and joined by the New York Metamorphoses Ensemble. Performances will take place on December 8, 2012 at 7:30pm at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Church (552 West End Avenue, NYC and on December 9, 2012 at 3pm at The Presbyterian Church of White Plains (39 North Broadway, White Plains, NY). Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, $25 for seniors and students and can be purchased HERE or by calling 914-674-2865.

Featured in the season's performances are pieces from The Fairy Queen, Welcome To All The Pleasures, King Arthur, Dido and Aenaes, Why Are All The Muses Mute, anthems and other selections.

The season's soloists include:

Christopher Sokolowski, Tenor
Christian Zaremba, Bass

The Hudson Valley Singers are a Westchester-based community chorus under the professional direction of Eugene Sirotkine. The Singers gave their debut concert on March 15, 1951, at the Graham School in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York and have been in existence continuously since that time, performing choral music of the 17th through 20th centuries.

The HVS is anon-auditioned chorus that strives to achieve professional results through commitment to the work and with the help of professional leadership. In addition, the group's objectives have always been to contribute to the cultural life of the community through public performances and outreach to those who are unable to attend. Eugene Sirotkine, a St. Petersburg-born conductor who debuted with the Latvian Philharmonic in St. Petersburg in 1989 and was an assistant conductor and assistant chorus master with the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1999 through 2008, is the director of the Hudson Valley Singers and the New York Metamorphoses Orchestra.

Over the past two decades he has conducted orchestras and choruses across the globe, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic; the Symphony Orchestra UN Cuyo in Argentina, the National Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Cape Philharmonic and the Cape Town Opera in South Africa, Cali Philharmonic in Columbia, and with the New York Metamorphoses Orchestra in collaboration with the Paul Taylor Dance Company at New York City Center and the Kennedy Center Orchestra at Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. Under his leadership HVS has travelled and performed in Costa Rica, Budapest, and at Concertegebeuw in Amsterdam.
