Horse Trade Theater Group & AnimalParts Theatre Present A QUIET SIP OF COFFEE 12/1-12

How many times can you say "pull my finger" before it's ripped off and eaten? A QUIET SIP OF COFFEE is the tale of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf', as told by two men who haven't learned its lesson. This new creation by ANIMALPARTS may contain: lying for attention, wild optimism, jokes about things one should never joke about, needless rescues, and a ravenous wolf-man.

Anthony Johnston and Nathan Schwartz, creators of the 2009 FringeNY Outstanding Solo Show ART'S HEART and the 2010 Frigid Festival favorite TENDERPITS, have teamed up with award-winning, international director Anita Rochon (The Chop Theatre) - to bring you a darkly comic vaudevillian freak-show about friendship.

AnimalParts is a New York City based theatre company dedicated to creating unique and vibrant new theatre that not only entertains, but challenges its audience. Using traditions of clown and bouffon, and juxtaposing multi-media with an honest and true connection with the audience - Animal Parts creates serio-comic performance pieces always rooted in humor, heart, and innovation.

Anita Rochon (Director) works as a director and theatre creator in Vancouver, across Canada and Europe. She's been involved in the development of more than 25 new works of theatre, ranging from movement-based pieces, verbatim theatre to traditional scripts. She co- artistic directs The Chop Theatre (www.thechoptheatre.com) with Emelia Symington Fedy which has produced 2 TRUTHS + 1 LIE = PROOF(HIVE), the award-winning PATTI FEDY TRILOGY and TOWNSVILLE presented at Magnetic North 2008. In Vancouver, she's directed for Vancouver Opera, Théâtre la Seizième and most recently a highly acclaimed version of THE WINTER'S TALE at her acting training alma mater, Studio 58. Last spring she graduated from the Directing program at the National Theatre School where she directed CINDY...A PERFECT CIRCLE by Charlotte Corbeil-Coleman, IN THE SOLITUTDE OF COTTON FIELDS by Bernard- Marie Koltès and choreographed and directed NOW HE BELONGS TO THE AGES (ANGELS) which was showcased at the Theatre Centre (Toronto) last spring. She just returned from the PAZZ Festival in Germany where she presented BIOBOXES and was developing a new show with Theatre Replacement.

Anthony Johnston (Creator/Performer) is an actor/writer/director based in New York City. Anthony has worked in professional theatre, film & television across Canada. Some credits include: 'Alan' in the most recent Canadian revival of EQUUS (Citadel Theatre), 'Billy' in the first Canadian productions of Edward Albee's THE GOAT OR WHO IS SYLVIA? (Manitoba Theatre Centre, Centaur Theatre, Montreal), 'Bill Mercer' in Soulpepper Theatre's Dora-Award Winning revival of David French's LEAVING HOME (opposite Kenneth Welsh), 'Brodie' in Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING (Manitoba Theatre Centre) and 'Gary' in the Western Canadian premiere of Mark Ravenhill's SHOPPING AND f-ing (Pi and Ruby Slippers Theatre,Vancouver). In NYC, Anthony has worked with Stage Left Studio, New York Theatre Experiment, the 13th Street Theatre, and Ensemble Studio Theatre's Young Blood. His two solo performance pieces ART'S HEART and TENDERPITS have been seen across Canada, throughout NYC and in NJ.

NATHAN SCHWARTZ (Creator/Performer) is an actor, director and theatre creator who has recently returned to New York City from Canada. Directing credits include, TENDERPITS at the 2010 NYC Frigid Festival and at the first annual United Solo Festival, ART'S HEART (winner, Outstanding Solo Show FringeNY 2009) RAGNAROK OUT! with Suburban Beast for Nuit Blanche 2009 at The Theatre Centre (Toronto) as well as the HATCH 2009 hit, IT TAKES TWO MEN TO MAKE A BROTHER, an exploration of male fraternity culture, at the Harbourfront Centre (Toronto). Nathan has worked as an actor across Canada and in Tel-Aviv at the Cameri and at Israel's National Theatre, Habima. He has studied with clown and bouffon luminaries Karen Hines and Adam Lazarus. Nathan is a graduate of Studio 58 Theatre School.

Horse Trade Theatre Group is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work, it has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater. Horse Trade's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent Theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy.
