Stretch your literary limits with acclaimed horror-genre authors John Langan and Veronica Shanoes and three-time Bram Stoker Award winner Sarah Langan at Andaz Wall Street in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday October 13th at 7pm.

Shanoes, a new mother whose novella, "Burning Girls," was a finalist for the Nebula prize, shares the Pen Parentis stage with two veterans of the Salon who, despite their identical surnames, are not related. However, both Langans share a talent for writing the creepy and odd, and both are (also coincidentally) founders and previous judges of the Shirley Jackson Awards.

The three popular writers will read from new work, sign books, and discuss how their writing careers were influenced by becoming parents. Hosted by authors M. M. De Voe and Christina Chiu of Pen Parentis, this reading series features a diversity of authors who balance successful writing careers with active family lives at home. Come early to get a good seat-plenty of wine in the private space, courtesy of Andaz Wall Street. Free admission. Books vended by local indie favorite Posman Brookfield. 21+ only. RSVP recommended. www.penparentis.org for more info.

Pen Parentis, Ltd, is a New York City-based 501c3 nonprofit literary organization that provides resources to authors who are also parents, to help them stay on creative track after starting a family.

Pen Parentis Literary Salons are made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. They are also funded in part by The Fund for Creative Communities with public funds from The New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, and by a generous grant from the Sustainable Arts Foundation.
