'Homeland' Star Damian Lewis Wants to Do a Musical

English actor Damian Lewis will serve as a presenter at this year's Evening Standard Awards on Sunday November 17th in the UK. The 'Homeland' star shared with the newspaper that he would love nothing more than to return to the live stage, not in a straight drama but in a full-out musical!

"I go to sleep dreaming of doing a musical," he revealed, joking "I've got to learn to sing and dance better."

Lewis explained his passion for the theater, not just as an actor but as a member of the audience as well. "It's thrilling Being in an audience of a thousand people, there's a feeling of congregation and you get a crackle of electricity in the air. Just to have a good story told to us - it has a very important part to play in our lives."

The actor began his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and has since appeared on stage in Five Gold Rings at the Almeida, Pillars of the Community at the National and The Misanthrope, opposite Keira Knightley, in London's West End. As for musical credits, the Emmy Winner has portrayed the Wolf in the Donmar Warehouse's production of Into the Woods in 1998.

Lewis's TV credits include Soames Forsyte in the ITV remake of The Forsyte Saga, Detective Charlie Crews in the NBC drama Life and Major Richard Winters in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He is best known for his role as Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in the Showtime series Homeland, a performance which has earned him an Emmy and Golden Globe.
