Holiday Programs Announced at The Museum Of Jewish Heritage

The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust announces its Hanukkah programs for families and young professionals, a limited engagement of National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's production of "The Sorceress", and schedule of events on December 25 and January 1.

The schedule of holiday activities is as follows:

Celebrate the Festival of Lights with a premium open bar, dinner, and dancing. Black tie optional. This event is for people ages 21-39.

Spend the day at the Museum. See the unique Core Exhibition and three special exhibitions. Adult and family-friendly tours are free with Museum admission. Enjoy National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's production of "The Sorceress" (separate ticket required). The Museum's restaurant, LOX at Café Bergson, is open during Museum hours.

The Sorceress (Di Kishefmakherin)
Presented by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

The Sorceress will be presented as an enhanced reading as part of the Yiddish Theatre Restoration Project. Audiences will have the exclusive opportunity to see this production on stage with costumes, lights, and projections for the first time in over 80 years.

This 1879 operetta by the "father of Yiddish theater" was the first Yiddish theater piece produced in America by Boris Thomashevsky-at the age of 14. A fairy-tale-like story of an innocent young heroine, her wicked stepmother, dashing fiancé, an itinerant peddler, and a local witch is set to a delightful musical score full of memorable tunes. Yiddish with English translation supertitles.

The Museum is closed on Saturdays, Jewish holidays, and Thanksgiving.

The Museum is located at 36 Battery Place in Lower Manhattan.

MUSEUM ADMISSION
General Museum admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for students, free for members and children 12 and younger.

Museum admission is free on Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 4 P.M. and 8 P.M.

A free walk-up tour is offered on Tuesdays at 3 P.M. of the Core Exhibition

Note: Tickets to public programs do not include Museum admission. Public programs may require a separate fee.
