A number of performers who have had experience in the theatre world will perform at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St.) in December and in upcoming months.
On December 6th and 7th, Varla Jean Merman, the alter ego of Jeffery Roberson, will take audiences on a guided tour of the Seven Deadly Sins in I'm Not Paying for This. Merman's credits include Hush Up Sweet Charlotte in San Francisco and The Mystery of Irma Vep (at the Long Wharf Theatre and Provincetown Repertory Theatre). The evening will be directed by Michael Schiralli, with additional material by Schiralli and Jacques Lamarre.
On December 8th and 9th, the pop/rock band BETTY will be at Joe's Pub. Each show will features special musical guests and songs from their CD, Snowbiz. BETTY recently wrapped up a tour of their show BETTY Rules, which was a hit off-Broadway in 2002-2003.On December 24th, Hairspray's Jackie Hoffman will present her show Chanukah at Joe's Pub; this is in addition to previously-announced datesDecember 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th for two shows a night--at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM. have come to expect," state press notes.Then on December 31st, comedian/actress Sandra Bernhard, who appeared on Broadway in I'm Still Here...Damn It!, will give two shows at 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM. The performer will treat audiences to songs and her trademark raunchy comedy. In addition to these December acts, Sam Harris has been announced to perform on March 26th and 27th, 2006. Harris has appeared on Broadway in The Producers, The Life and Grease on Broadway, and in the LA Reprise! concert of Pippin, among other credits.
