5th Avenue Theatre artistic director David Armstrong will direct and choreograph Pippin. The long-running 1972 musical was originally staged by Bob Fosse.

In addition, on April 9th, the Grammy, Tony and Academy Award-winning Schwartz (Wicked, The Baker's Wife, Godspell, Disney's Pocahontas) will return to Seattle for The 5th Avenue Theatre's popular "Spotlight Night." He will discuss Pippin's current political relevance and perform many of his own songs.

In the show, which was a hit on Broadway when it opened in 1972, "Prince Pippin, son of Charlemagne, embarks upon a quest for true fulfillment, seeking his own corner of the sky. He relishes the glories of the battlefield, savors the temptations of the flesh and embroils himself in political intrigues. But neither war, sex, revolution nor domesticity can satisfy him--or so he thinks," state press notes. Schwartz' pop-rock score includes "Magic to Do," "Corner of the Sky," "Morning Glow," "With You" and more. Roger O. Hirson penned the book.
