Performer and monologist Ben Rimalower pays tribute to legendary leading lady Patti LuPone in his hit solo show PATTI ISSUES and a hilarious new SWEENEY TODD-centric clip of the autobiographical evening currently on world tour is now available to view.
Rimalower recounts a hilarious and fascinating story about acting as an assistant to director Lonny Price on the last New York Philharmonic production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET, starring George Hearn and Patti LuPone herself.
"But I can't think of anything but that door in front of me - that door that Patti LuPone is going to walk through at any second," Rimalower vividly recounts at the outset.
Then, the diva arrives!
"She is everything I dreamed she would be," Rimalower reveals - and more!
Of note, Ben Rimalower's tribute to legendary stage and screen star Patti LuPone began well over a year ago as merely a four-performance showpiece for the passionate monologist and humorist - who recounts his adoration of the star and how her presence as a performer helped him through some rough periods in his life and bonded him to his own gay father over the course of the show - before it became an overnight downtown hit, eventually running all the way to late last year when Rimalower was replaced by Robin De Jesus, who performed for a few weeks in the role, as well.
