File Under: Rock, Dance, Electronic, Late Night
21 or over to enter
Doors at 10:30pm, Show at 11:00pm
$20 at door
RSVP to info@4kent.com
The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show.

Sunday, September 5
MOSHAV
with The Groggers
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$15 adv, $20 at door
An eclectic blend of rock, indie, reggae, middle-eastern... One of Israel's finest exports! This show is the release party for their eighth CD titled "Dancing in a Dangerous World". Raised on the Moshav
Meor Modi'im, a musical village in the hills between Jerusalem 8pmand Tel Aviv, the three young men who make up Moshav -- Yehuda (vocals, percussion), Duvid (vocals, u8 guitar), and Yosef (bass) -- have learned and played music since childhood. Imagine the jamming of Phish
mixed with the vocal strength of Pearl Jam and the spiritual lyrics of U2 seasoned with a Middle Eastern influence, and you can begin to describe the unique sound of Moshav. It's not typical for a band that the mainstream rock world is not yet familiar with to make their first mainstream release a "Best Of" compilation but, for Moshav, already well-known and hugely successful in the Judaic market, it makes perfect sense. Although their music comes from and is steeped in the
Jewish culture of their upbringing, Moshav is as mainstream as any pop/alternative band.

Tuesday, September 7
BLOOD INTO WINE
DVD Release and Screening Party
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20 ticket includes admission to screening and a BLOOD INTO WINE DVD
$30 ticket includes admission to screening and a BLOOD INTO WINE BLU-RAY
$15 tickets are for screening admission ONLY (no DVD)
Maynard James Keenan, internationally known as the front man for Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, is one of music's most mysterious figures. A multi-million selling artist, little is known about the reclusive rock star who often dresses in costume and rarely gives interviews. In the mid-1990's, on a whim, Keenan left Los Angeles and moved to an Arizona ghost town (population 300). A wine enthusiast, he began to envision a world class wine region on the Verde Valley's
craggy slopes and with wine mentor Eric Glomski (former David Bruce winemaker and current owner of the award-winning Page Springs Cellars), Keenan began the long road to bringing credibility and
notoriety to Caduceus and Arizona Stronghold Vineyards amidst wine industry prejudice and the harsh Arizona terrain. Blood Into Wine takes viewers into the struggles and triumphs with a unique blend of comedy and master storytelling. The DVD also contains extended interviews, alternate scenes, deleted scenes and never before seen concert footage. The DVD's will be distributed after the screening of movie. Wines from Caduceus Cellars will be served.

Thursday, September 9
JAMEY JOHNSON
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$25 adv, $30 at door
Jamey is the co-writer of the CMA and ACM 2007 Song of the Year "Give It Away," recorded by George Strait. Trace Adkins, George Jones and Joe Nichols have also recorded his songs. But instead of sitting at home counting his royalty checks, Jamey Johnson recorded more than 40 songs during the past year. Not content with providing hits for others, the singer-songwriter has a powerful drive to sing, record and perform. "We get people at the shows who have never heard this kind of country music, ever. We get up there and play and they go, ‘I've never
heard anything like that. That was incredible!' That's the good stuff. I like to share with somebody else the music that turned me on when I was young. And when they have the same reaction, it's like, ‘Oh, cool. I was hoping you'd like that, because I did.'" He has a place on his
wall for that Gold Record. He is proud of his CMA and ACM statuettes. He loves performing those sold-out shows. But you get the sense that what he's really excited about is that his album is now available on vinyl, as a double LP.

Friday, September 10
THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE
Doors at 6:30pm, Show at 7:00pm

States, Mexico, Australia, the U.K. and Europe. They have become renowned for their high-energy live performances, drawing large, mixed crowds through their appeal to fans of a surprisingly wide range of genres. Equally comfortable playing intimate venues as they are on a
festival stage, the band's highly-praised performances will continue into the next year as they continue touring. Their fourth full length album "Pins And Needles" will be released on September 14th and will be accompanied with a release tour from Sept. 8-15th. Currently, the
band is on tour in the U.S. playing both headlining shows and shows with OTEP and they will also be returning to the U.K. in October.

Sunday, September 12
THE ALARM
with The Funky Knights
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20 adv, $25 at door
The beginnings of The Alarm are rooted in the punk rock soundclash of
1977 when an impressionable Mike Peters began writing three minute
blasts of electric noise on a beat up white guitar. The energy of the
times has sustained Mike Peters ever since. Formed by Mike Peters in
1981, the early Alarm sound featured a daring mix of amped up acoustic
guitars, harmonica and passionate vocals that invited the enduring
description "Bob Dylan meets The Clash". This is the sound of The
Alarm that has been heard around the world ever since with 17 Top 50
UK singles, a host of successful albums and over 5 million sales
worldwide. (The Alarm's most recent chart success ‘Three Sevens Clash'
(Guerilla Tactics 2008), rose to number 3 in the Alternative US Radio
Charts). Since then Mike Peters has formed his own cancer charity Love
Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF) taking the fight against cancer to new
heights and leading a team of musicians to 18,500 feet on Mt. Everest
to break the record for the world's highest concert on land and help
build a cancer centre in Kathmandu, Nepal. Since then Mike Peters and
LHSF have hosted further ground breaking musical treks to Macchu
Picchu (2008), and the summit of Kilimanjaro (2009), providing much
needed cancer care for those in the developing world. LHSF is now the
biggest rock and roll cancer charity in the world, running hundreds of
DNA Saliva based bone marrow donor drives at music events all across
the USA and (after some powerful Mike Peters lead campaigns in
Parliament), now doing the same at home in the UK. This August, Mike
Peters will once again lead the LHSF team to Mt. Fuji in Japan to
further highlight the need for a global initiative in the registration
of bone marrow donors.

William Orbit and sees Katie writing on her own and with Guy Chambers,

GAELIC STORM
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20 adv, $24 at door
Gaelic Storm announce the August 3rd release of their new album,
"Cabbage" as the band's fan base continues to multiply turning the
one-time-pub-band into one of the premier touring acts in the
Celtic/World music genre. Highlights from their decade-spanning career
include seven Billboard Chart topping albums, a DVD, a full-length
concert film featured on HD.net in 2007-2008, song placement on two EA
Sports Games, a 2008 Hallmark greeting card featuring their song "Kiss
Me I'm Irish", countless television and radio appearances. Gaelic
Storm is likely the most-seen Irish-influenced band in the world,
given their performance as the steerage band in the film 'Titanic.'
The band has sold out hundreds of theatres and performing arts centers
and has now played to audiences totaling in the millions. They have
previously toured alongside artists including Emmylou Harris, Lyle
Lovett, and The Barenaked Ladies, and will perform on the Sailing
Southern Ground Cruise with Zac Brown Band this fall.

Thursday, September 16
THE YOUNG DUBLINERS
with Seven Nations
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$15 adv, $20 at door
The hard-rocking Irish band, the Young Dubliners owe everything to
their fans. "They keep us honest, expecting good music both on the
road and on the albums," mentions frontman Keith Roberts. After going
on a number of headlining and co-headlining US tours (Johnny Lang,
Collective Soul, Great Big Sea and others), the quintet settled down
to record Real World - an album influenced by their predecessors
(Waterboys/Pogues/U2/Big Country) and most importantly, life on the
road. From Irish-flavored anthemic rock to rowdy pub tunes, lead
singer Keith Roberts voice is stronger than ever and the songwriting,
performance, and production show a new maturity and artistic ambition.
Roberts notes, "Since Absolutely, we've become a much tighter band.
It's the first time we've had the same members for two albums in a
row, plus we've had the benefit of relentless touring. I think those
two factors have really come together to make us sound and write
better." During the interlude between Absolutely and Real World came
another event which drew the band in. Roberts underwent a throat
surgery which required months of vocal cord rehabilitation. "My
surgery made us all aware of how close we came to losing it all. Our
determination to succeed is even stronger than before," he reflects.

MAGMA
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$25 adv, $30 at door
It would be futile, at this point in time, to sing the praises of MAGMA; it has become a legend. In forming MAGMA in 1969, Christian VANDER initiated one of the richest creative efforts of the last 30
years. The group became successful in France very quickly and this fame soon spread abroad. One can ascribe this universality to the innate expressive force of MAGMA's music and to the  successive waves of exceptional personalities who brought so much to theendeavor...beginning with Christian VANDER, recognized worldwide as a ‘drum hero' and as a composer of the utmost originality and expressive force. Magma is a concept band whose albums explain the origins and
development of the new civilization on Kobaia, and their interactions with the people of Earth and other planets. All of their lyrics are sung in the language of the new civilization, 'Kobaian.' As one might expect, the music from Kobaia several hundred years from now is very
unlike what we are accustomed to on twentieth century planet earth. Magma's music is very strange, beautiful, and ultimately rewarding, but it does require an open mind on the part of the listener. It is music that must be experienced fully with body, heart and soul: not simply a cerebral performance of some kind of space opera by clever musicians, but a full blown spiritual experience with the music acting as the connecting vehicle between performer and listener.

GARLAND JEFFREYS AND THE CONEY ISLAND PLAYBOYS
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$30 adv, $35 at door
After extensive mid-'70s tours with reggae artists like Toots & the Maytals and Jimmy Cliff, Jeffreys jumped to Epic Records to record three more albums, 1980's Escape Artist, 1982's Rock'n'roll Adult, and 1983's Guts for Love; for a songwriter as prolific as Jeffreys, it was ironic that his only chart single from period was a cover of ? & the Mysterians' "96 Tears," which featured a pumping organ and a unique arrangement. After a long absence, he recorded his 1992 debut for RCA
Records, Don't Call Me Buckwheat, which offered such powerful statements about race matters and racism as "Welcome to the World." He followed with Wildlife Dictionary in 1997. A single-disc overview covering the years 1977 to 1983, Wild in the Streets, was issued by Raven in 2002. I'm Alive was released in 2006 by Universal International.

Sunday, September 26
YARD DOGS ROAD SHOW
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$15 adv, $20 at door
The Yard Dogs Road Show is a hobo cabaret, a living patchwork of vaudeville and rock and roll. In the enchanting land of stage show entertainment theirs is both pleasant and formidable terrain. They require a sensitivity to the subtle and the absurd. They lead the modern hobohemian on a visual and sonic journey through part of history that may or may not have existed - followed by an ambitious return to the emotional challenges of our punch-drunk contemporary world. It's a true story on stage: sword swallowers, dancing dolls, fire eaters and sunset hobo poetry - all animated by the live sounds of the Yard Dogs cartoon heavy band. Yard Dogs Road Show is pure visual and sonic voodoo.

Wednesday, September 29
BRENDan James
with Jason Reeves
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$14 adv, $16 at door
With his warm, rich tenor and emotionally powerful songs, Brendan James announces himself as an artist-to-watch on his dazzling debut album The Day is Brave. Rooted in the classic singer/songwriter tradition, the album is 11 tracks of stunning songcraft: elegant,
earthy, and displaying a total lack of artifice that is rare in the pop world these days. The musical narrative that runs throughout The Day is Brave has been years in the making for James, who grew up in Derry, NH. Though James was always told he had a powerful voice, he didn't begin writing songs until his sophomore year at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. James taught himself to play piano and took a year off from school to spend time in L.A. writing songs. "I
was so passionate about songwriting, I wanted to get involved in the music scene and start performing," he says. In 2002, he returned to Chapel Hill, graduated, and moved to New York City, where he toiled at Urban Outfitters by day and performed at open mics around Manhattan's East Village at night. To gain access to a piano to practice, James would sneak into hotel ballrooms around the city. "I'd dress to look like a guest at the Plaza Hotel, so I could walk in there unnoticed," he says. Hence, where the name of his 4 song EP - "The Ballroom Break-In."

Thursday, September 30
Chick Corea TRIO
Featuring CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE and BRIAN BLADE
Early: Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
Late: Doors at 10:00pm, Show at 10:30pm
$45
After a banner year in 2008, this year Chick Corea has succeeded with another whirlwind of significant accomplishments. An NEA Jazz Master and a legendary pianist/keyboardist with an expansive résumé replete with musical triumphs over the course of his four-decade-plus career,
Corea has once again indefatigably distinguished himself. A prolific composer and innovative artist par excellence, Corea has explored an extensive range of music. Best known for his grand contributions to the jazz library (the full spectrum of idioms from acoustic to electric, bebop to avant-garde), he has also delved successfully into classical (including concertos with symphony orchestras) and Latin (winning a Latin Grammy for his collaboration with banjoist Béla Fleck, The Enchantment).
