The '60s Project, running from August 10th through September 3rd at the Norma Terris Theatre.
In addition to Hicks (
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well...), Rannells (
Hairspray) and McAlexander (
Little Women), it will feature
Rodrick Covington (
The Lion King),
Michael Gillis, Megan Lewis (
Forbidden Broadway: SVU),
Lois Robbins, Angela Williams, Maggie Benjamin (
Rent), Cameron Adams (
Hairspray), Mark Bush, Darryl E. Calmese, Jr., Michael Craig,
Kevin Hale (
Hairspray), Miles Johnson, Claire Karpen, Bobby List, Alexis Sims and Idara Victor.
Directed by
Richard Maltby Jr, who recently directed
Ring of Fire and who has penned lyrics for shows such as
Baby and
Closer Than Ever, The '60s Project relives "America's most dramatic decade with a group of young friends fighting
to make a difference and find their place in an ever-changing world.
The sights and sounds of a generation are brought to life in this
powerful new musical," state press notes. Among the songs included are "Chapel of Love," "Where the Boys Are," "I Think We're Alone Now," "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "The Shoop Shoop Song."
The '60s Project, conceived by Janet Brenner, is written by Brenner and Ken Levine. It will feature choreography by
Lisa Shriver (
Ring of Fire).
