Macy's Herald Square will kick off the Chicago 10th Anniversary week with a special performance and appearance by Chicago on Monday, November 6th at 6 PM at their new Men's Department on the 2nd Floor.
Time Out New York hosts the event and their theatre critic, Adam Feldman. will moderate a Q&A with stars, Marilu Henner (who appeared as Roxie Hart), Christopher McDonald (the current Billy Flynn) and Rob Bartlett (the current Amos Hart).
Following that, there will be performances by Bartlett in addition to Roz Ryan (Matron Mama Morton) and Brynn Dowling and Donna Marie Asbury.
Macy's has also devoted a window in honor of the Anniversary on their 34th Street side.
There will be a chance to get tickets to the once in a lifetime dress rehearsal of the gala that will reunite the original stars, Ann Reinking , Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, Joel Grey and Marcia Lewis along with over 30 star alumni including Brooke Shields, Melanie Griffith, John O'Hurley, Huey Lewis, Ashlee Simpson, Wayne Brady, Chita Rivera and more. These, along with the new Anniversary CD/DVD Chicago anniversary set, will be given as gift with purchase over $100.00.
Chicago, which opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14th 1996, has reached a run of over 4,100 performances at the Ambassador Theatre (215 W. 49th St.). Chicago received 6 1997 Tonys (including Best Revival of a Musical) under the direction of Walter Bobbie and the choreography of star Ann Reinking. The revival, based on Bobbie's stylistically stripped-down Encores! staging, featured direction and choreography by Bob Fosse in its original 1975 production. Chicago features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse.
