Roundabout Theatre Company has announced on their website (www.roundabouttheatre.org) that a new interpretation of Hedda Gabler will be added to their new season lineup.

Hedda Gabler is Norwegian playwright Henry Ibsen's dark tale of a woman trapped in a boring loveless marriage who takes it out by manipulating everyone around her. The play, along with Ibsen's A Dolls House was considering one of the most controversial works of its time. The role of Hedda has been re-created by talented actresses such as Cate Blanchett, Kate Burton, Ingrid Bergman, Annette Bening, and Fiona Shaw.

The production will run at the American Airlines Theatre in the winter of 2009.

Roundabout's 2008-2009 season (already featuring Frank Langella starring in Robert Bolt's A Man for All Seasons, directed by Doug Hughes; David Rabe's Streamers, directed by Scott Ellis, Lisa Loomer's Distracted featuring Cynthia Nixon, directed by Mark Brokaw and Steven Levenson's The Language of Trees, directed by Alex Timbers) will also include Pal Joey starring Martha Pimpton and Stockard Channing
