The Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770 announces that acclaimed Broadway, Off-Broadway and film producer Daryl Roth will be the 2016 recipient of the Order of the Golden Sphinx award. Ms. Roth will be honored and presented with the prestigious award at the annual Order of the Golden Sphinx Gala to be held at the Diamond Horseshoe at the Paramount Hotel in New York City on April 11, 2016.
The Order of the Golden Sphinx, named for a traditional symbol of The Hasty Pudding Institute, is the highest honor bestowed by the Institute and recognizes individuals in the entertainment industry for their extraordinary contributions to the performing arts. The recipient represents the Institute's mission to support and foster the performing arts within its membership, at Harvard, and the community at large. Previous recipients of the Order of the Golden Sphinx award include Michael Lynton, CEO of Sony Entertainment Inc.,
David Heyman, founder of Heyday Films and producer of "Gravity," and legendary music producer
Clive Davis, Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music.

There is an obvious kinship between the sequined high heels of 'Kinky Boots' and those worn for decades by the Hasty Pudding 'Ladies'."

Ms. Roth is a Member of the Mayor's Theater Subdistrict Council, an Honorary Trustee for Lincoln Center Theatre and has served on the Board of Directors of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and New York State Council on the Arts. Recent honors include: the 2014 New York Living Landmarks award; the 2013 Einstein Humanitarian Award from The Women's Division and Albert Einstein College of Medicine; the 2012 Family Equality Council Hostetter-Habib Family Award; the 2011 Live Out Loud Humanitarian Award; and the 2010
Lucille Lortel Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ms. Roth was profiled in The New Yorker and twice included in Crain's "100 Most Influential Women in Business."
The Order of the Golden Sphinx gala enfolds as a dinner with special performances by the Hasty Pudding Theatricals and Harvard Krokodiloes undergraduates and alumni, produced by
Amanda Lipitz Productions and written and composed by
Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde: The Musical, The Explorers Club) and Larry O'Keefe (Legally Blonde: The Musical, Heathers: The Musical), both alumni of the Pudding.
