Welcome to the debut of a very special new series on BroadwayWorld.com - four time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein's personal MySpace blog of bringing his brand new musical, A CATERED AFFAIR to Broadway. We'll be exclusively picking up Harvey Fierstein's blog as he shares his first hand reports from rehearsals, to out-of-town tryouts to Opening Night (and beyond).  A CATERED AFFAIR also features a score by John Bucchino and is being directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle. Prior to Broadway, the new musical will play at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre beginning September 20th and then hit the Great White Way at the  Walter Kerr Theatre with previews beginning on begin March 25. The cast includes Broadway favorites Faith Prince, Tom WopatHarvey Fierstein, Leslie Kritzer and Matt Cavenaugh. Group tickets for the show are now on sale...

FIRST LOOKS!

Hi Kids

Now that a few production shots have appeared on other Broadway sites, I thought I'd share a few with YOU!

Harvey Fierstein, Faith Prince and Tom Wopat as family

Ain't we a sight? I swear, when I see myself in these clothes and that hairdo my whole childhood comes rushing back to me. Who knew I'd grow up to be my Uncle Paul?

Here's Faith Prince as Aggie Hurley imagining the wedding of her dreams...

And if anyone was ever scared to have a wedding because their relatives might misbehave... Well, this scene from our show won't quell those fears.

That's Leslie Kritzer, Matt Cavenaugh, Lori Wilner on the left side of the table. Harvey Fierstein at the head, and Philip Hoffman and Tom Wopat on the right.

So, there's your first look at what we're doing here.

We have three more previews before the critics DESCEND, but I think Mr. Doyle will freeze the show tonight and let us "play in" all the changes we've made. The audiences here continue to eat it up. The theater reports to us that their subscribers are THRILLED with the experience they are having with the show and we are almost sold out for the run a week before the reviews come out. Not bad. (KNOCK WOOD, SPIT THREE TIMES BETWEEN YOUR FINGERS, "TOI TOI TOI")

I will, of course, keep you up to date on all the goings-on here with stories and photos, so just...

STAY TUNED!
