Hartford Stage to Hold Auditions for Young 'Anya' in ANASTASIA World Premiere

BroadwayWorld has learned that Hartford Stage will hold auditions for girls, ages 7-13 years old, for the role of 'Anya' at age 7 in the Tony Award-winning theatre's new musical ANASTASIA.

From Darko Tresnjak -- 2014 Tony Award winner for Best Director of a Musical for A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER -- and the Tony Award-winning writers of the Broadway classic RAGTIME, the new musical ANASTASIA is the romantic and rousing story of one brave young woman attempting to discover the mystery of her past while finding a place for herself in the rapidly changing world of a new century.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, January 28 from 3 to 6 pm. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, January 30 from 10 to 11 am.

Girls must be between the ages of 7 and 13; they may not turn 14 until after June 19, 2016. Girls will be auditioning for the role of Anya at age 7 - a sweet and impressionable young Russian girl with a beautiful soprano voice. (No belting, please.)

Auditions are by appointment only, and there are a limited number of appointments available. To schedule an audition, email auditions@hartfordstage.org. Auditions will be held at Hartford Stage Offices at 942 Main Street in Hartford. Enter under the red Residence Inn awning, and take the elevator to the second floor (Rehearsal Studio 2).

Girls must prepare a monologue, poem or speech that is under one minute longand sing 16 bars of a song (accompanist will be provided). Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key, as well as a headshot and resume. Please wear something casual and comfortable to the audition.

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, April 5, with performance dates from Friday, May 12 through Sunday, June 19. Please note that participating in this production will result in missed classes.
