Harold Clurman Lab Premieres Dennis Staroselsky's JUST ABOUT CURED, Now thru 9/18

The Harold Clurman Lab Theater, the professional wing of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, is proud to present the world premiere of Just About Cured by Dennis Staroselsky. Directed by Ian Morgan, Just About Cured will play from today, September 6 through 18. The cast includes Kate Marie Frank, Marc Menchaca, Marie Polizzano*, Theo Stockman* and John Wodja*. The Lab Theater's recent work includes the off-Broadway run of Israel Horovitz's Lebensraum and, in Los Angeles, the Ovation-nominated run of Long Way Go Down by Zayd Dohrn.

Just About Cured focuses on Larry (Wodja) who has given up his punk rock partying ways, and now takes in strays from AA meetings to do odd jobs for him in his messy and sometimes shady business schemes. Kevin (Stockman) is struggling with his acting career and his sobriety, and hopes working for Larry will get him back on track. But will their bond be strong enough? Just About Cured explores the highly fraught state of limbo between addiction and sobriety.

Staroselsky is the sixth annual participant in the Harold Clurman Playwright-in-Residence program which supports emerging writers. Just About Cured marks his premeire as a playwright. As can actor, Staroselsky's selected regional credits include appearances at the Huntington Theater, A.R.T, and Dallas Theatre Center. TV/Film: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Nurse Jackie, Jericho, Law & Order, White Collar and The Michael J. Fox Show among others. Just About Cured was developed by The New Group in the fall of 2013. His newest piece titled Mourning Found Me Again focuses on the question of whether post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the result of an incident or a genetic pre-disposition inherited based on the trauma suffered by our parents. He is a member of the 2014 Williamstown Theatre Festival Free Write Residency.

Ian Morgan (Director) is Associate Artistic Director of The New Group.
