Harlem Production of SOUL NATIVITY Travels to British Virgin Islands

Performances of the Harlem School of the Arts critically acclaimed Soul Nativity returns to The Herb Alpert Center this holiday season! Conceived and directed by HSA's Artistic Director, Alfred Preisser and HSA Prep Director Tracy Johnson, Soul Nativity 2015 is a Gospel extravaganza featuring song, dance, and comedy that explores the story of the Nativity through a modern interpretation. The score is infused with Gospel, R&B, Pop, and Rock in an altogether original conception of a timeless story, appropriate for all ages!

The cast will hold a special fundraising performance in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) from December 2 through December 6, benefiting the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) in BVI. The cast returns to New York City for eight productions that will run from December 11 through 20, Fridays at 7:00 PM, Saturdays at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Sundays at 3:00 PM at Harlem School of the Arts, The Herb Alpert Center's HSA Theatre at 645 Saint Nicholas Avenue and 141st Street.

This "soulful" multi-talented cast of over 40 top HSA students and professionals ranges from age 4 and up! Alfred Preisser, New York based writer, director and producer's credits include, Archibishop Supreme Tartuffe starring André De Shields; Melvin Van Peebles´ Ain´t Supposed To Die a Natural Death, King Lear with André De Shields, and over fifty professional shows in New York, regionally and Europe.

Tracy Jack, co-writer, co-director and choreographer credits include Sweet Sweetbacks Baad aaasssss Song The Musical; Bonn Biennale (Germany), Best of Both Worlds, American Repertory Theatre; Aint Nothin' But The Blues, New Harlem Arts Theatre; The Stronger, and The Man Who Ate Michael Rockefeller, Dog Run Rep. HSA's Young Theatre Alliance, have appeared in Soul Nativity 2014, The Colored Museum and DNA MIA (A Summer Intensive original work); HSA's Dorothy Maynor Singers recently performed with The New York Philharmonic; The Harlem Japanese Gospel Choir, winner of the Best Choir Award; and Voices of the Flame, soon be heard on world renowned jazz artist, Christian McBride's soon to be released CD, The Movement Revisited.
