Amas Musical Theatre will present three free staged readings of Escape from Pterodactyl Island, "a new musical adventure" featuring a star-studded cast.

Co-presented with Marie Reynolds, Kim Vasquez and Steven Yuhasz, the staged readings will take place at Carroll Studios (625 West 55th Street) on October 26th at 3 PM and October 27th at 11 AM and 3 PM.

The musical, directed by Phillip George, features book and lyrics by Peter Charles Morris and music by Michael Jeffrey.

"Shipwrecked on an uncharted island, Victorian travelers are confronted by killer dinosaurs, genetic mutants, and a sexy cavewoman all under the control of the evil Dr. Devo whose experiments in physiological transmorphology threaten to destroy the human race. The novels of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells collide with 60's horror movies in this irreverent tongue-in-cheek rock and roll musical."

The cast includes Rob Donohoe (A Christmas Carol), Carlos Encinias (Altar Boyz), Blake Hammond (currently appearing as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray), Rahsaan Kerns, Val Moranto, Perry Ojeda (On the Town), Ari Shaps, Kate Shindle (Jekyll and Hyde, Cabaret), Rena Strober (My Life with Albertine), Shelley Thomas (Brooklyn, the Musical), and Jeremy Webb.

Escape from Pterodactyl Island was originally produced at the Pleasance Theatre in London and is a winner of the 1999 Michael Stewart Musical Theatre Development Award.

Amas Musical Theatre – since 1968, Amas ("you love" in Latin) has been devoted to the creation, development and professional production of original musicals, the emergence of new artistic talent, and the training and encouragement of inner-city young people.
