On February 13, 2006, Charle Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Psycho Beach Party) and Julie Halston (Hairspray, Gypsy, many plays with Busch) will host Theater for the New City's 3rd Annual Love n' Courage Benefit.

The evening will benefit Theater for the New City's Emerging Playwrights Program with a portion of the tickets benefiting Southern Rep, the regional theater of New Orleans damaged by fire resulting from Hurricane Katrina.

The evening has a dual focus: presenting the songs of Broadway's socially-conscious lyricist Yip Harburg (The Wizard of Oz, Finian's Rainbow) and honoring the spirit of New Orleans with a special appearance by cabaret star Mary Cleere Haran and the music of Troi Bechet and her band.  After the performance, audiences can dance to Trio and her Quartet; the singer is flying in her native New Orleans for the event.

The legendary Kitty Carlisle Hart, who was born in New Orleans, will make a very special appearance, while the benefit commitee includes Elaine Stritch, Tim Robbins and Edward Albee.

Tickets are $150 including champagne supper, performance and dancing. Theater for a New City is located at 155 First Avenue (between 9th and 10th).  Call (212) 254 - 1109
or visit www.theaterforthenewcity.net for information and tickets.
