This episode, I was able to meet up with Josh at his home. I haven't seen Josh in a couple of years so it was great to catch up!
We talk about growing up in his mother's studio and how it has shaped his career today. Josh always thought he was going to take over his mother's studio and never in his wildest dreams believed he would be where he is today.
We dive into his early years in NY and the people who pushed him to keep going! Before booking the TV show SMASH on NBC, Josh talks about how he was unsure about continuing to choreograph. Soon after, he won an Emmy for his choreography on SMASH! We talk about where he was when he was nominated and how he felt after winning. I worked with Josh on SMASH and it was one of the most fun and rewarding jobs I have ever done. We also talk about choreographing ON THE TOWN as his first show and the differences between working on TV vs. Broadway.

Josh tells a great story of a recent, very lucrative job he gave up so he wouldn't have to cancel on his friends and respected colleges. There is a lot of great information in this episode and great stories about resilience and hard work. I had a great time this episode and I hope you do to.
On Broadway, Josh choreographed the revival of ON THE TOWN which opened to rave reviews. He received an Astaire Award and was nominated for TONY, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Awards. Also on Broadway, Joshua choreographed the revival of GIGI. As a director/choreographer, Joshua co-directed and choreographed the BOMBSHELL on Broadway concert at the Minskoff Theatre, as well as directed and choreographed HAZEL, a new musical at the Drury Lane Theatre last spring. Most recently, Josh received additional Drama Desk, Astaire, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his choreography of the Off-Broadway musical CAGNEY.
"ON THE TOWN includes the dreamiest dream ballets I've seen in years. Mr. Bergasse (best known for the television show SMASH for which he won an Emmy) maintains this rare feeling of idiosyncrasy in harmony. Similarly, Mr. Bergasse captured the Robbins spirit, but stamped it with his own vivid signature." - THE NEW YORK TIMES
PIRATES OF PENZANCE, "Mr. Bergasse's zesty choreography keeps the cast in almost constant, exuberant motion." - NEW YORK TIMES
"Joshua Bergasse's choreography, classic in design and elegant in form, dancing is sensational." - VARIETY
