C.A.G.E. Theatre Company will present - as part of the first fall season of the New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC - THE LONG RAIL NORTH, written by award-winning playwright, Michael Hagins, and directed by former Planet Connections Artistic Director, Brock H. Hill.
THE LONG RAIL NORTH centers on Pvt. Thomas Morgan, a black union soldier, who must escape via train with a young southern white girl named Molly Barnes that he rescued from a plantation fire of a nearby Civil War battle. Exhausted, with limited resources and even fewer allies, Morgan (played by Xavier Rodney) continues traveling north getting Molly to safety - despite her racist view of him and his race. Regardless of his good intentions, both union and confederate forces pursue them.
Mr. Rodney is joined by Jordyn Morgan, Rich Wisneski, Anna M. Hogan, and Michael J. Whitten.
THE LONG RAIL NORTH is one of a select group of productions opening the new FringeHUB performance space at 685 Washington Street (corner of Charles Street), NYC. Michael Hagins (Playwright and Fight Director) is a NY award-winning playwright and 17 year veteran of New York indie theatre. As a veteran of multiple festivals throughout the world, Michael has helmed award-winning productions of Hit and Match, The Quest of the Hero!, Circe, The Renaissance Dueling Plays and Michael is Black. He has been the recipient for Outstanding Playwrighting, Outstanding Choreography, and Outstanding Solo Show among other various awards for his cast and crew.
Brock H. Hill (Director) is a New York based director and arts administrator. He was recently the Producing Artistic Director of the Planet Connections Festivity and is the Artistic Director of the Altruistic Theatre Company. He is known for ensemble based, organic work.
