Other Productions has announced its debut production of How Do You Say Mother in Esperanto? by Roger Weisman, as part of the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival. This world premiere, directed by Lauren Miller (Adjunct Company Member at TACT, Producer of the newTACTics New Play Festival), will be mounted at the brand new Sheen Center - The Black Box (18 Bleecker Street, Fringe NYC Venue #14) for 5 performances: tonight, August 8th at 5:00PM, Sunday August 10th at 12:00PM, Wednesday August 13th at 9:45PM, Saturday August 16th at 4:45PM, and Thursday August 21st at 9:00PM. The performance runs 80 minutes with no intermission.

This new play, first seen by audiences in a developmental staged reading with The Glass Eye's Red Eye Reading Series, is a two-person dark comedy. A young couple, dealing with the aftermath of an alien abduction, is forced to reexamine their notions of intimacy, fidelity, and family when secrets from the past reveal that some encounters are closer than others. Human emotions and otherworldly phenomena create a volatile mix in this comic drama.

The FringeNYC production features performances from Zac Hoogendyk (Cleveland Play House's In The Next Room (or the vibrator play), Gulfshore Playhouse's All My Sons) and Leigh Williams (TheatreWorks USA's Great Expectations 1st National Tour, Cleveland Play House's Inherit the Wind), both members of the Actors' Equity Association. Lighting and scenic design is by Nic Christopher, and costume design is by Veronica Sipp.

Roger Weisman (Playwright) is excited to see his work presented in the NY Fringe. Previously, his play The Jaime Thing, was produced by Theatreflective, of which he was a founding member. As a music and culture writer, he has contributed to websites including The Huffington Post and The Waster, while maintaining his own blog, Otherweis... BFA, Theatre, Emerson College. MA Media Studies, The New School.

Tickets ($18) are available in person at the box office at FringeCENTRAL (114 Norfolk Street, between Rivington and Delancey, 12-8PM daily), or online at www.FringeNYC.org. FringeNYC maintains a strict no-late-seating policy.
