HIGH Heads to Broadway's Booth with Turner; Previews 3/25, Opens 4/19

Producers Leonard Soloway, Chase Mishkin, Terry Schnuck, Ann Cady Scott, Timothy J. Hampton, James & Catherine Berges, The Shubert Organization and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis announce two-time Golden Globe® winner, Academy Award® & Tony Award® nominee Kathleen Turner will return to Broadway this spring in Matthew Lombardo's new play HIGH, directed by Rob Ruggiero. HIGH will begin previews on Friday, March 25 and open officially on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street).

The cast includes Kathleen Turner as "Sister Jamison Connelly", Tony Award® nominee Stephen Kunken (Enron) as "Father Michael Delpapp" and Evan Jonigkeit making his Broadway debut as "Cody Randall".

The design team for HIGH includes Tony Award® winners David Gallo (Sets) & Jess Goldstein (Costumes), John Lasiter (Lights) and Vincent Olivieri (Sound & Original Compositions).

HIGH explores the universal themes of truth, forgiveness, redemption and human fallibility. When Sister Jamison Connolly (Turner) agrees to sponsor a 19 year-old drug user in an effort to help him combat his addiction, her own faith is ultimately tested. Struggling between the knowledge she possesses as a rehabilitation counselor and a woman of religious conviction, she begins to question her belief in miracles and whether people can find the courage to change.

Kathleen Turner returns to Broadway following her Tony® nominated performance as "Martha" in the 2005 Tony Award® winning revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

This Broadway premiere follows a noteworthy collaboration of three American regional theaters. In July 2010, the play premiered at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut, followed by the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in September 2010 and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis in October 2010.

Tickets will be available beginning Monday, January 24 online at Telecharge.com or by phone at (212)239-6200. The Booth Theatre Box Office (222 W. 45th St) will open on Friday, March 4th. Ticket prices range from $61.50-$111.50 with a special preview price of $61.50-$91.50 for performances March 25-April 18.

A $26.50 ticket will be reserved for the first row for all performances, for audience members ages 17-21. Interested ticket buyers can purchase these seats at the Booth Theatre box office only, the day of the performance. There will be a limit of two tickets per person.

HIGH contains mature themes, strong language, and nudity. A parent or guardian will be required to accompany audience members under 17.

HIGH will play Tuesday - Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM, Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:00 PM & Sunday matinee at 3:00 PM.

Kathleen Turner (Sister Jamison Connelly). Kathleen Turner has gained critical acclaim for her performances in various movies including Body Heat (Golden Globe nomination); Romancing the Stone and Prizzi's Honor, both of which earned her a Golden Globe Award; Peggy Sue Got Married, which brought Turner both an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination; and War of the Roses, which earned her yet another Golden Globe nomination. Turner's extensive film credits also include The Man with Two Brains with Steve Martin, Jewel of the Nile with Michael Douglas, The Accidental Tourist; V.I. Warshawski, Serial Mom, Naked in New York, Moonlight and Valentino, The Real Blonde and The Virgin Suicides. She has starred on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, for which she received a Tony nomination; and also Indiscretions, The Graduate and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, for which she received a second Tony nomination. Ms. Turner had a major recurring role last season playing the role of Sue Collini on Showtime's hit series, Californication. Last spring, she starred as newspaper columnist Molly Ivins in the world premiere of Red Hot Patriot: The Kick Ass Wit of Molly Ivins at Philadelphia Theater Center, and immediately after starred in the independent film The Perfect Family. In addition to her film and stage credits, her 2008 autobiography titled Send Yourself Roses: Thoughts on my Life, Love, and Leading Roles secured a position on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Evan Jonigkeit (Cody Randall). Evan originated the role of Cody in High. A Philadelphia-based artist, he has worked in many of that city's theatres, including Arden Theatre, Mauckingbird Theatre, Walnut Street Theatre, Montgomery Theatre and People's Light & Theatre. He has been seen in the films Calendar Girl, The Gift and on Fox TV's Amazing Sport Stories. He serves on the PlayPenn New Play Development Committee, as Director of Development for Mauckingbird Theatre and as a teacher. He is a graduate of Temple University.

Matthew Lombardo (Playwright) recently made his Broadway debut with Looped at the Lyceum Theatre last season. Other New York credits include Tea at Five at the Promenade Theatre (IRNE Award for Best Solo Play) Mother and Child at Second Stage and Guilty Innocence at The Actors' Playhouse. His work has been seen at regional theaters across the country, including Arena Stage, Seattle Rep, Hartford Stage, Cleveland Play House, American Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis and others.

Rob Ruggiero (Director) directed the world premiere of High and recently made his Broadway debut with Matthew Lombardo's play Looped. Other New York credits include All Under Heaven, as well as conceiving and directing the original musical revue Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn (Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Nominations). His regional credits include productions of Take Me Out (Kevin Kline Award for Outstanding Director of a Play) Urinetown, the Musical (Kevin Kline Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical), and The Little Dog Laughed (Kevin Kline Award for Outstanding Director of a Play). He conceived and directed Ella (Kevin Kline and Joseph Jefferson Awards), which has played at regional theater stages around the country and will begin a National Tour this spring. He has been a partner in the artistic leadership of TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut since 1992.
