Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical "In the Heights" and Spanish Broadcasting System's WPAT-FM 93.1 Amor join forces to support Go Red Corazon, the American Heart Association's movement to educate women about heart health in order to live stronger, longer lives. The program, called "Hearts in the Heights", will take place the final week in February -- American Heart Health Month.

"Heart disease is the leading cause of death among Latinas and not enough of us know that," says Association volunteer Maria Elena Pina-Fonti, who also serves as Chair, National Association of Hispanic Nurses (Queens Chapter). "'Hearts in the Heights' will get Latinas to take notice and, we hope, make lasting lifestyle changes for their hearts."

"In the Heights" performances between February 22-28, 2009 will support Go Red Corazon with bilingual health information, audience giveaways and a special announcement by Tony Award nominee, Olga Merediz, who plays "Abuela Claudia".

Meanwhile, Amor 93.1 FM, the number-one Spanish-language radio station for pop and romantic music, will interview "In the Heights" cast members on February 25 on the show "Amor Temprano en La Manana". From February 23 to 27, the station will give away five pairs of "In the Heights" tickets to listeners.

On Friday, February 27, Olga Merediz will join Darlene Rodriguez from WNBC's Today in New York and the Today show's Hoda Kotb for the 2009 Go Red for Women Luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria, where two tickets to "In the Heights" will be auctioned as part of the fundraising event.
