HAMILTON's Lin-Manuel Miranda Wins 2016 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical

Lin-Manuel Miranda has won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Hamilton. Miranda wrote the book, music and lyrics for Hamilton and stars in the lead role as Alexander Hamilton.

His other Broadway credits include Composer/Lyricist/Usnavi of In the Heights (four Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score, Grammy Award, Pulitzer Prize finalist), Bring It On: The Musical (co-composer/co-lyricist, Tony nomination for Best Musical), West Side Story (2009 revival, Spanish translations).

Off-Broadway credits include Hamilton (ten Lortel Awards, three Outer Critic Circle Awards, eight Drama Desk Awards, the 2015 New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best New Musical and the 2015 Obie Award for Best New American Play); Merrily We Roll Along and tick, tick...BOOM! (both City Center Encores!).

With Tom Kitt, Lin-Manuel received an Emmy Award for "Bigger" from "The 67th Annual Tony Awards."
