As BWW reported last week, talented actor Javier Muñoz, who steps in for Lin-Manuel Miranda on Sunday matinees as the alternate Alexander Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical, was recently diagnosed with cancer. The 40-year-old revealed the news in Friday's New York Post.

"I was diagnosed in October," Muñoz shares with The Post. "I spent about six weeks not wanting to think about it, face, it, deal with it." While the actor declined to say which specific cancer he was diagnosed with, he revealed, "I had never felt fear before like this in my life."

The actor returned to the show three months ago following surgery and radiation treatment.

On Friday, Munoz turned to Twitter to thank his fans, family and cast mates for all their support. Check out the post below.

Munoz portrayed the role of Usnavi in IN THE HEIGHTS on Broadway. He has been a part of Hamilton from its early development through the Public Theater. Other theater credits include The Porch at Altered Stages, In the Heights at 37 Arts, Venice(Venice) at Center Theatre Group, Two Gentleman of Verona (a rock opera) (Proteus) at Shakespeare Theatre of DC, Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Richard III (Dorset) and Into the Woods (The Baker).
