Hamilton: An American Musical (Original Cast Recording) was today selected by J.P. Morgan as a "must-have" for the holidays. The musical CD is one of seven gifts selected by the firm to celebrate the season with its global client base.
"The J.P. Morgan Holiday Gift Guide is an annual tradition the firm and our clients look forward to, as we celebrate some of the finest non-fiction stories that have been released this year," said Darin Oduyoye, Chief Communications Officer for J.P. Morgan Asset Management. "The Holiday Gift Guide features six books and, for the first time ever, one musical CD that are sure to spark new ideas, thinking and conversation among our clients worldwide."
The history of JPMorgan Chase will forever be tied to Alexander Hamilton, who lost his famous duel in 1804 to Aaron Burr, founder of The Bank of The Manhattan Company, the firm's earliest predecessor. Today, Hamilton's life is honored in song and story. The soundtrack of Broadway's current popular musical captures the incomparable life of a Founding Father with unforgettable tunes that mix hip-hop and history with energy and elegy.
"The phenomenal prose in 'Hamilton: An American Musical' are mesmerizing music fans worldwide," Oduyoye said of the featured CD. "This original cast album had an historic debut on Billboard's rankings, and combined with the overwhelming popularity of the Broadway show, it is sure to be a unique and memorable holiday gift. We are excited to share this story with our clients - a story that stretches back amid the history of JPMorgan Chase, with Aaron Burr founding our earliest predecessor company. This year's book selections, along with this musical CD that originated from Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton, truly offers a diverse curation of transformation and creativity for everyone."
More than 500 non-fiction titles submitted by J.P. Morgan's employee base worldwide were considered as part of the guide selection. That list was then culled based on timeliness, innovation of ideas and global client appeal. This year's selections focus on a celebration of life in stories of transformation and creativity.
