According to UK Journalist Baz Bamigboye, Hamilton has postponed its West End Opening by one month. Originally scheduled to bow in October 2017 at the renovated Victoria Palace Theatre, the juggernaut will now begin previews in November of the same year, with priority tickets going on sale in January. December 1st is the new opening night.
As he suggested at the Tony Awards this past June, the musical's creator and original star, Lin-Manuel Miranda is planning to play some 2018 performances in the title role. Although he was in London recently for closed principal auditions, Miranda has not shared specific details for his West End performance dates, which won't be finalized until after he completes filming for Mary Poppins Returns.
Keeping with the Broadway production's commitment to providing affordable tickets available, West End producer Cameron McKintosh has confirmed that the West End production will have £20 daily and weekly lotteries, along with a third of tickets being kept at £55 or lower. Premium tickets will out pace the Broadway production in order to pay for the wider availability of cost-efficient seats. Those on the priority ticket list will be the first to have guaranteed seats when tickets go on sale in January.
HAMILTON is the acclaimed new musical about the scrappy young immigrant Alexander Hamilton, the $10 Founding Father who forever changed America with his revolutionary ideas and actions. During his life cut too short, he served as George Washington's chief aide, was the first Treasury Secretary, a loving husband and father, despised by his fellow Founding Fathers and shot to death by Aaron Burr in their legendary duel.
