Today, Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling announced the appointments of Jacques Brunswick as the Guthrie's Chief Administrative Officer and Trish Santini as the Director of External Relations.
The Guthrie Theatre, which is located in Minneapolis, engaged the services of Albert Hall & Associates to conduct extensive national searches for each position. Brunswick and Santini join a senior management team consisting of Dowling, Director of Development Dianne Brennan, Production Director Frank Butler and Director of Studio Programming Michael Bigelow Dixon.
"The Guthrie's senior management team is a new model for theater administration," Dowling explained. "With a new public building and expanded programming, it seemed wise to expand the leadership of the theater to include the directors of all the various elements that go into managing the Guthrie. Jacques's expertise as it relates to strategic planning for multi-use cultural centers, and Trish's sophisticated approach to developing comprehensive and consistent brands, will be essential in positioning the Guthrie as a National Center for Theater Arts and Theater Education."
With the reorganization of leadership, Brunswick will oversee Accounting, Information Systems, Company Management, Facilities, Human Resources and Costume Rentals. As Director of External Relations, Santini will oversee Marketing, Communications, Front of House & Visitor Services, Special Events, the Guthrie Learning Center and Community Relationships.
Brunswick comes to the Guthrie from Mystic Seaport in Connecticut, where, for the last 14 years he has been Vice President, Finance and Administration. In that capacity he oversaw the operations of a $25 million premier maritime museum. . He was responsible for planning, budgeting, accounting, and contract negotiation, among other duties. He was project director for a $120 million Master Plan for the Museum. Before joining Mystic Seaport, Brunswick was at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for 12 years, serving as the Vice President for Finance and Administration for his last four years, supervising BAM's finance, MIS, box office, building management, theater rentals and concessions departments.
Santini joined the Guthrie direct from her position as the Vice President, Broadway Division at TMG-The Marketing Group, a national marketing and press agency for Broadway and National Tours. She directed and managed the marketing campaigns for more than two dozen Broadway shows including The Drowsy Chaperone, WELL, Mamma Mia!, Doubt, Hairspray, Avenue Q, Lestat, and Movin' Out as well as sponsorship for Roundabout Theatre Company and Manhattan Theatre Club. Prior to TMG, Santini served as Director of Marketing at the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards, in Hollywood and as the Marketing Manager for Dodger Theatricals in New York for productions such as Into the Woods, Urinetown, the musical, 42nd Street, Music Man and Blast!.
