Gustavo Dudamel, the "energetic ambassador for classical music" (Vanity Fair), returns with this all-new Deutsche Grammophon recording of symphonic works derived from Shakespeare as re-imagined in music by Tchaikovsky. Leading the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela for their sixth collaboration on the Yellow Label, this new recording will be available everywhere on March 8.

Dudamel leads the electrifying Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest and Hamlet - three unique concert works that display both the virtuosity and refinement of the ensemble. Previously the group has recordEd Mahler, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and a program of devoted to Latin American composers - all under the direction of Dudamel. In a unique nod to the roots of this program, DG has asked actor Simon Callow to write the program notes and give context to Shakespeare's works.

Coinciding with the release, Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a series of concerts with the same program of repertoire. The March 13th concert, live from Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA, will be broadcast in movie theaters. This will be the second broadcast in a series of events featuring the LA Phil and Dudamel (www.laphil.com/laphillive).
