In December, Gucci announced that it would be losing its creative director, Frida Giannini, starting the rumor mill cranking as to "who would be the next great Gucci creative head?" In a swift move, Gucci has seemed to up the anti by asking Giannini to leave earlier than expected to help faciliate the transition and picking process.
Giannini departed the label last Friday, January 9th, well before her planned February 25th exit after her final women's collection walked in Milan. So now that leaves us all wondering, "Who will take over?!"
WWD reported that Gucci couldn't be reached for comment but one name out there is Gucci's head accessory designer, Alessandro Michele, could step into the role. Other contenders are Richard Tisci, Hedi Slimane and Tom Ford. But Ford definitely seems to be more of a desire of Gucci fans than a real possibility.
Only time will tell!
