Let the search for a new creative director begin.
Kering confirmed that Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, is leaving the Italian brand after showing her F/W 2015 collection in February in Milan. To add insult to injury, Gucci's chief executive officer Patrizio di Marco will also exit after six years in January.
Now comes the guessing game and the rumor mill of who will take over as creative director of Gucci. There has been longtime speculation that Givenchy's creative head, Riccardo Tisci, would succeed Giannini and WWD says he is on the list.
When questioned about Tisci, a Kering spokeswoman said, "We never comment on rumors. All I can say is the recruitment is under way."
Another name floating around is Joseph Altuzarra after Kering took a minorty stake in his fashion house last year and he sat front row at the Gucci show.
Francois-Henri Pinault, chairman and ceo of Kering, said to WWD, "There is no change in terms of strategic approach for Gucci. We will continue to pursue the implementation of the brand elevation strategy."
