Grote of '1001' & Rebeck in Playwright Talk-Back Nov.3

Page 73 Productions proudly announces a post-show discussion on Saturday, November 3 between Jason Grote (author of 1001) and award-winning playwright Theresa Rebeck after tomorrow's matinee performance of 1001. Grote and Rebeck's discussion will focus on the playwright's process when she or he is telling a human story in a political context.  The two will look at how a playwright tells a story in a play that looks at politics without compromising the human element of the play.

1001 opened this week to strong reviews: "Mixing the labyrinthine wordplay of Jorge Louis Borges with the ideas of Edward Said and the slapstick comedy of Monty Python, 1001 hyperlinks Scheherazade's tales to contemporary Manhattan.  Time blurs and reality is fractured and reconstructed in a world inhabited by characters whose identity shifts unpredictably and deliriously," explain press notes.

1001 is written by Jason Grote and directed by Ethan McSweeny, and plays at the Nagelberg Theatre at Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC), 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 25 Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues until Saturday, November 17. 

The cast of 1001 features Mia Barron, Drew Cortese, Roxanna Hope, Jonathan Hova, Matthew Rauch, and John Livingstone Rolle.  1001 is produced by Page 73, the non-profit that developed and produced this year's Pulitzer finalist Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue by Quiara Alegria Hudes.

1001 plays Monday through Friday at 8PM and Saturday at 3Pm & 8PM through November 17 at the Nagelberg Theater at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on 25 Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues.
