Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) are pleased to announce additional casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway production of THE ROYAL FAMILY by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber featuring direction by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Mauritius, Doubt).

Joining the cast will be Larry Pine (Gilbert Marshall), Freddy Arsenault (Perry Stewart), Kelli Barrett (Gwen Cavendish), Carolyn Stefanie Clay (Della), Rufus Collins (McDermott/Gunga), David Greenspan (Jo), and Henny Russell (Ms. Peake).

Larry Pine replaces the previously announced Stephen Collins who has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.

They will be joined by the previously announced cast which includes noted stage and television actress Ana Gasteyer (Kitty Dean), Tony winner John Glover (Herbert Dean), Tony Award winner and Oscar nominee RoseMary Harris (Fanny Cavendish), Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Jan Maxwell (Julie Cavendish), Tony Award nominee Tony Roberts (Oscar Wolfe), and Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award nominee Reg Rogers (Tony Cavendish).

Four additional cast members for the production will be named shortly. Those four cast members will complete the company of 17 actors.

The new Broadway production of THE ROYAL FAMILY begins rehearsals today at Manhattan Theatre Club and will begin previews Tuesday, September 15 for a Thursday, October 8 opening at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Follow a famous family of stage stars as they go about the drama of the day: choosing scripts, dashing off to performances, stealing kisses from handsome beaus. But what's this business about the youngest diva wanting to quit the stage for domestic bliss? Never, darling!

The creative team for THE ROYAL FAMILY will include John Lee Beatty (Scenic Design), Catherine Zuber (Costume Design), Kenneth Posner (Lighting Design), Darron L West (Sound Design), Maury Yeston (Original Music), Tom Watson (Hair & Wig Design), and Rick Sordelet (Fight Director).

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Producer Barry Grove, MTC has become one of the country's most prominent and prestigious theatre companies. MTC productions have earned a total of 16 Tony Awards and six Pulitzer Prizes, an accomplishment unparalleled by a New York theatrical institution. Renowned MTC productions include Ruined; The American Plan; Top Girls; Come Back, Little Sheba; Blackbird; Translations; Shining City; Rabbit Hole; Doubt; Proof; The Tale of the Allergist's Wife; Love! Last season, MTC's Broadway stage was renamed the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The landmarked theatre has been the institution's home on Broadway since 2003 and was rehabilitated by MTC following a two-year, $35 million capital campaign. In addition, MTC operates an Off-Broadway home at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street), where it has been in residence since 1984.

Film: In Praise of Shadows (upcoming). Training: B.A. from Christopher Newport University, M.F.A. from NYU's Graduate Acting Program.

Kelli Barrett (Gwen Cavendish) was last seen as ‘Sherrie' in the Off-Broadway production of Rock of Ages, as ‘Maddie Coleman' on As the World Turns and as the talking mannequin/Hugh Dancy's phone bidder ("Woman In Black") in the film Confessions of a Shopaholic. Her recent films (out 2010) include ‘Jessica Nilson' (Patrick Wilson's wife) in The Baster and ‘Tyler's Girl' (opposite Robert Pattinson) in Remember Me. Previous theatre credits include, Knickerbocker Holiday (‘Tina Tienhoven,' York Theater); The Last Goodbye (‘Juliet,' Joe's Pub). Regional: Gypsy (‘Louise,' Westchester Broadway Theater); Ace (‘Ruth' u/s, Ensemble Old Globe, Cincinnati Playhouse, St. Louis Rep); Bright Lights, Big City (Amanda/dance captain, Prince Music Theater). Kelli is an alumna of UARTS.

Caroline Stefanie Clay (Della). Broadway: Come Back, Little Sheba; Drowning Crow; Doubt (Broadway, National Tour, and the Off-Broadway production which originated at MTC). Other New York theatre credits include: Playwrights Horizons, NYTW, and Signature. Regional: Yale Rep, Goodman, Shakespeare Theatre, McCarter, Long Wharf, Hartford Stage. Rufus Collins (McDermott/Gunga) previously appeared on Broadway in To Be, or Not To Be; An Ideal Husband, Day In The Death of Joe Egg and The Homecoming at the Roundabout. Other New York credits: Aristocrats, Orson's Shadow, House and Garden at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Hamlet, Henry V, Richard II (title roles), A Doll's House and Pillars of Society.
