The world premiere of Richard Greenberg's new play The House in Town, presented by Lincoln Center Theatre and directed by Doug Hughes,opens at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre on Monday, June 19th at 6:45 PM. It began previews on Wednesday, May 24th.

Set in the early months of 1929 in a townhouse on Millionaire's Row (23rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues) in New York, The House in Town is an intimate portrait of a marriage. The cast of five features Becky Ann Baker (Rabbit Hole, Assassins), Dan Bittner, Mark Harelik (The Light in the Piazza), Jessica Hecht (Julius Caesar) and Armand Schultz (A View from the Bridge). The production boasts sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Brian MacDevitt and sound design and original music by David van Tieghem.

Playwright Richard Greenberg returns to Lincoln Center Theater where his play Everett Beekin was produced, also in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. He is currently represented on Broadway with the new production of his play Three Days of Rain, winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics, Olivier and Drama Desk Awards. He won the Tony, NY Drama Critics, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Drama League Awards for Best Play for Take Me Out. His other plays include A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Night and Her Stars, The Extra Man, The American Plan, The Author's Voice, The Maderati, Life Under Water, Safe as Houses and Hurrah at Last.

The House in Town marks director Doug Hughes' Lincoln Center Theater debut. Winner of the Tony, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics, Drama Desk and Callaway Awards for his direction of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt. Earlier this season, he directed A Touch of the Poet and A Naked Girl on the Appian Way for the Roundabout Theatre, where he is an Associate Director. His other Broadway and off-Broadway credits include Frozen (Tony, Outer Critics, Lucille Lortel Award nominations), The Paris Letter, McReele, The Grey Zone (Obie Award) and Flesh and Blood (Callaway Award).

LCT is also currently presenting The Light in the Piazza at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre and Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing! at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway.

The House in Town is performed Tuesday through Saturday evening at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturdays at 2pm and Sundays at 3pm. Tickets, priced at $70 and $75, can be ordered at the Lincoln Center Theater box office, at telecharge.com or by visiting www.lct.org.
