Green Eyes Song Cycle Features Blaemire & Reinking, 5/13

The Leopold Group, a new Chicago-based modern dance company, will present a concert version of Green Eyes, a new song cycle fusing musical theatre, pop/folk music, modern dance, and video-dance.  Green Eyes will be presented at Joe's Pub, located at 425 LaFayette Street, New York, NY 10003.  The show will take place on Sunday May 13th, 2007 at noon. 

This concert version will feature the fifteen original songs from Green Eyes, performed by Megan Reinking (Lestat, Dracula) and Nick Blaemire (Altar Boyz).  Jesse Vargas will music direct.  A full production, including dance and video, will take place in July 2007 at the Theatre Building Chicago (Chicago, IL). 

Green Eyes is the story of the rise and fall of a relationship told by two singers, two dancers, and a 5 piece band.  The music and lyrics are written by composer and performer Brian Mazzaferri (www.brianmazzaferri.com).   Mazzaferri holds degrees in musical theatre and philosophy from the University of Michigan.  Direction and choreography are by Lizzie Leopold, also a University of Michigan graduate, with a degree in dance.  Leopold is the artistic director of the Leopold Group dance company (www.leopoldgroup.org) and a dancer with the Lyric Opera of Chicago

Green Eyes was orchestrated by Eli Zoller, another graduate of the Michigan Musical Theatre program.
