In October and November, NBC will begin its search for Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, the romantic lead roles of Grease, as part of its new talent competition series "You're the One That We Want."
Open calls will take place in
Chicago, New York and Los Angeles for a chance to star in the new production of
Grease, which is scheduled to open on Broadway in June 2007. The actors who survive the open calls will then compete for
Grease roles on "You're the One That We Want."
Casting producers are seeking individuals 18 years of age and older with singing, acting and dancing abilities. Candidates are asked to be prepared with two songs: one from a selected list of
Grease songs and the second can be any non-
Grease song of their choice. Prospective participants can visit
www.NBC.com for further details and a complete list of approved
Grease songs --including some other suggestions from the era.
The first to arrive in line will be given priority wristbands and guaranteed to be seen by the casting producers; however, those not receiving wristbands will be allowed to audition if time allows (access dependent upon location turnout).

The new production of Grease will open on Broadway in June 2007 and will be directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall (The Pajama Game). Paul Nicholas and David Ian Associates, Nederlander Presentations and Phoenix Productions will produce. Jim Jacobs, the co-creator of Grease, along with Marshall and renowned theatre producer David Ian are set as judges on "You're the One That We Want."
Grease, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, "is the all-American musical, based on the sub-cultures of high school life in the 1950's. The show takes place at the hyperactive Rydell High School, where Danny Zuko fronts his gang - the raucous T-Birds - who romance their sassy female equivalents - the Pink Ladies. When 'good-girl' Sandy Dumbrowski arrives in town, the Pink Ladies take her under their collective wing," as the show is described in press notes.
Tickets for Grease will go on-sale on December 1, 2006. Group Sales are available now by calling Nederlander Group Sales at 212-840-3890.
