Brasilina, a new family-owned restaurant serving contemporary Brazilian cuisine, will have its grand opening on Sunday, December 4th. The gorgeous Hell's Kitchen space at 836 Ninth Ave. at 55th St. will double as a cafe during the day, serving Brazilian coffee and light lunches and at night as a full service restaurant. Brunch will be available on the weekends.
A former boutique operator from Brazil, Silvanei Silveira owns Brasilina with her two children Daniel and Mariana. The children wear many hats as well: Daniel doubles as manager and executive bartender, making the venue's signature, delightful <and potent> caipirinhas while Mariana is executive chef, a Culinary Institute graduate, serving up such traditional fare as yucca gnocchi with beef jerky sauce and lamb chops with quinoa couscous.
As designed by Silvanei and Daniel, Brasilina has a warm, rustic feel: the space has hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, high ceilings and is adorned with charming curios and candles. Soft, inviting colors round out the ambience.Videos
