Gotham Stage Company recently announced its new initiative, Honoring the Profession. The proposal will see the Off-Broadway not-for-profit theatre company making unsold seats for each main stage production available, free of charge, to students of the theatrical arts as well as to members of the theatrical unions with valid IDs. Honoring the Profession patrons must show up to the box office 30 minutes prior to curtain, and will receive one free seat, based on availability.

Honoring the Profession will officially launch May 25 at The Players Theatre (115 MacDougal Street), with the world premiere of Randall David Cook's Fate's Imagination, directed by Hayley Finn.

Gotham Stage Company's Producing Artistic Director Michael Barra comments in the press release, "Our program Honoring the Profession is a nod to the theatrical tradition in the 18th and 19th centuries where members of the theatrical industry were invited to see each others productions in the interest of common artistic appreciation and industry camaraderie and we at Gotham are excited to carry on the tradition with the offer to our peers and future colleagues."
