Goodspeed Musicals Extends SHOW BOAT Through September 17

After only five of performances, Goodspeed Musicals, the first two time Tony Award-winning theatre in the country, announced today that the wildly popular Show Boat will now to play to enthusiastic audiences for 8 additional performances. This classic American musical has been extended through September 17, 2011. Show Boat is sponsored by Webster Bank, Essex Meadows, and Comcast.

Performances are Wednesdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Thursdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m.; and Sundays at 2 p.m. Added performances are: Tuesday, Sept 13 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept 14 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Sept 15, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Sept 16, at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept 17, at 2 and 6:30 p.m. For a complete schedule and tickets call the Box Office at 860.873.8668, open seven days a week or visit us online at www.goodspeed.org. Jerome Kern's masterpiece is a treasure trove of unforgettable music including "Ol' Man River," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," and "You Are Love." Show Boat features Music by Jerome Kern and Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on the novel Show Boat by Edna Ferber.

Show Boat is directed by Goodspeed favorite Rob Ruggiero who returns to the Opera House where he previously directed Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun, Camelot, Big River, and 1776. Mr. Ruggiero also directed Broadway's High and Looped. Choreographer for this production is Noah Racey who choreographed Goodspeed's Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun and starred in Where's Charley?. Mr. Racey also performed in Broadway's Curtains, Never Gonna Dance, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Follies. Show Boat is produced for Goodspeed Musicals by Michael P. Price.
