Goldberg, Jones, Schreiber & More Headline UN Concert 3/25

Producing Artistic Director Allan Buchman has announced that it will present a special one-night-only theatrical concert event, Breaking The Silence, Beating The Drum, on the floor of the General Assembly Hall. This unique event will take place on Wednesday, March 25th, 7:30 p.m. - ‘International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade' - marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, and the widespread abuses of human trafficking.

Breaking The Silence, Beating The Drum will feature performances and appearances by Cameroon Drummers, Ban Ki Moon/Father D'Escoto, Blind Boys of Alabama, Danny Glover, Gilbert Gil, Carl Lewis, Ky-Mani Marley with Nile Rogers, Stacyann Chin, Angela Brown, Salife Keita/Toumani Diabate, Audrey Babcock with Daisy Jopling, Gabri Christa Troupe, Stew, Sarah Jones, Emeline Michele, Akon/Peter Buffet, Lenelle Moise, Izaline Calister, Phylicia Rashad, Bill T. Jones, Liev Schreiber, Noah Stewart/Lester Lynch, Salif Keita, The Impact Theatre Group, and Whoopi Goldberg.

Speaking of the new collaboration with The United Nations, Allan Buchman said, "This unique event is something that will help to mold Culture Project's future. Working on groundbreaking collaborations like these with The United Nations is what our organization is about: focusing on a call to action while creating work for the world stage.

This particular event has great importance as it allows us to commemorate the spirit of strength and resilience that led to the end of one of the most dire crimes against humanity."

Buchman added, "At the beginning of Culture Project's life, we blended genres, and then we focused solely on theater for a number of years. This new event ushers in a new era where we will we will once more include music film movement and language to our theatrical agenda."
