Everyone knows the story of the young actress from the Midwest catching a bus to Tinseltown with a suitcase in one hand and dreams of stardom in her eyes. Hollywood Positive takes this story and pulls its pants down in a hilarious 90 minute show playing for a limited two week engagement at Go Comedy! August 14-22. Ally is a beautiful young Michigan State theater graduate who leaves her doubting parents, heads off to Hollywood and quickly finds herself in over her head. Desperate to fit in, she swims through an ocean of talent agents, life coaches, casting directors, acting teachers, producers, and fellow actors who are all trying to take a little piece of her, one self-obsessed nibble at a time. Hollywood Positive received rave reviews during its run in the North Hollywood theater district last summer, and now "The Play Hollywood Doesn't Want You To See" makes its Detroit debut. Written by Alara Ceri and Steven Karageanes, the play features Ceri with Dan Brittain, Genevieve Jona, Charlie Newhart, Brian Papandrea, Maggie O'Reilly, Vince Sabatini and Julia Schroeder. It is directed by Steven Karageanes and will appear at 8:00 pm Thursday & Friday evenings August 14-22 as well as at 8:00 pm Saturday, August 16. Tickets are $15.
