Glen Berger's SPIDER-MAN 'Tell All' Book to Hit Shelves 11/5

According to the LA Times, SPIDER-MAN co-book writer Glen Berger has written a "tell-all" book about the behind-the-scenes battle that took place during the development of the Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK.

Titled "The Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History", the book will hit shelves on November 5th from Simon & Schuster Publishing. The show's original director, Julie Taymor, hired Berger to help her write the book for the troubled musical. Over time, the duo faced creative differences which almost led to a legal case. Taymor was ultimately fired from the production.

Last April, it was announced that Taymor, along with Berger and the creative team of U2's Bono and The Edge and producers Jeremiah Harris and Michael Cohl had reached an out of court settlement.

Details of Berger's revealing book have been kept secret, however the publishing house shared that the author will divulge "every aspect -- the highs and lows -- of the production and in doing so, takes us inside the theatrical process in a way few authors can." They add, "'The Song of Spider-Man' is the ultimate fly-on-the-wall account of how Broadway works, how big musicals are made, and how great artists continue to dream, even in the midst of a nightmare."

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" is currently running at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre. The production cost an estimated $75 million to produce, and many speculate it could take years to break even, despite strong ticket sales.
