I'm not going to sugar coat any of this for you, simply because I know we're all in the same place - we're not ready. We will most likely never be ready, but tonight - it is goodbye to everyone's lovable clumsy dancer and the man who brought him to life. Now, if you know me or have been reading these recaps since I've been doing them, you know my intros rarely ever have a serious undertone, but tonight - I can honestly say that I am going to have the most difficult time recapping tonight's episode. Tonight, we learn that goodbye is the hardest word to say or sing. Gleeks - tonight, we stand united. This is for Cory and Finn - may you rest in peace and know that you touched so many and you are greatly missed.

The episode opens with the entire Glee club - past and present (sans Rachel) singing "Seasons of Love" with Mercedes as the soloist, before turning to a photo of Finn in memoriam. Kurt is packing to return to Lima for a memorial for Finn, still unable to believe that Finn, his brother, is gone. The staff reacts to Finn's death in typical fashion - Sue being her usual self, much to the objection of Emma, Mr. Schue, and Coach Bieste. The glee club members (along with returning members - Santana, Mike, Kurt, Puck, and Mercedes) join together in the choir room, where Mr. Schue dedicates the week to Finn. Mercedes dedicates a performance of "I'll Stand by You" (a song Finn sang to his one time thought unborn child and girlfriend, Quinn). The memorial tree that was planted is stolen (by Puck), and Kurt meets with Sue to discuss replacing it before meeting Burt and Carole to go through Finn's things, which is a very emotional experience for all. Kurt has a run in with Puck near their one time usual spot - the dumpster, where Puck angrily demands Finn's jacket from Kurt, but Kurt refuses.

Sam and Artie lead a performance of "Fire and Rain" as the glee club continues to mourn, but Santana has had it with the moping and wants action. After watching Bree blow out the candles near the makeshift memorial to Finn, Santana goes off on Principal Sue, before pushing her and storming out. Tina meets with Emma, but the occasion is not nearly as serious as Mr. Schue, who comes to visit, and Emma is concerned given how he hasn't mourned or cried and seems to be holding it all inside. Puck is confronted by Coach Bieste, who knows he's the one who stole the tree, and they try to get through Puck's anger and hurt. Puck suggests retiring Finn's number, which Coach Bieste says she can get done, as long as Puck returns the tree. Santana gathers the glee club and sings "If I Die Young" but loses it and runs out. Kurt finds Santana in the auditorium, and gets Santana to read the letter she wrote. Despite the moment of connection, Santana asks to be alone, and Kurt puts the letterman jacket around her and leaves.

Puck puts his heart into "Surrender" before Santana comes in demanding the jacket from Puck, but Puck declines having it. Mr. Schue explains to Puck about the jacket, but Puck continues to further say he doesn't have it. Santana returns to apologize to Sue, but Sue agrees that everything Santana said and laments that she never got the chance to tell Finn she actually liked him and his lost potential. The glee club place drumsticks, which Kitty thinks are cheesy, but Rachel enters with Kurt and insists it isn't. Puck returns the memorial tree and reveals to Coach Bieste that he's enlisted in the Air Force, before riding off leaving Coach Bieste to find the word "Quarterback" carved into the tree. Rachel performs a heartbreaking version "Make You Feel My Love" as the glee club console each other. Santana is still in search of the jacket as Mr. Schue finds her putting up flyers to find it, which is when Santana explains she'll never come back to Lima because it hurts too much. Rachel comes to Mr. Schue and asks how he's holding up, and appreciates him being the rock for everyone. Rachel presents Mr. Schue with a plaque to put up in the choir room in Finn's honor. Mr. Schue returns home and reveals he is the one who stole Finn's jacket, and Emma returns home to find him sobbing, and consoles.
